Comic Book Nails
I love the movies. What I don’t necessarily love is the Spiderman franchise. I know, those of you who must can go ahead and detest me for a while… However it’s not exactly THE Spiderman movie…it’s that they are making another one. Not a sequel, and not one to represent a classic created 3 decades earlier, just….another one. Maybe there is some sort of underlying comic book loving information that I’m missing that gives this movie it’s cool factor but still, I just don’t get it. So I have to admit I did a major eye roll when I heard about OPI’s new The Amazing Spiderman collection. And now I’m having to eat my words because I am sort of in love with it!
My favorites are “Just Spotted the Lizard” {reminds me of another fav, MAC’s “Mean and Green”} and “My Boyfriend Scales Walls”. I also really love that they added a “shatter” color to the mix of newbies.
The collection really is a great variety and spring and fall colors that I can’t wait to try! Which ones do you love?

My Pot of Gold
Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Who doesn’t love a holiday that allows it be socially acceptable to drench yourself head to toe in one fabulous color. And if you don’t? You’ll get pinched! Whoever came up with that I would like to high-five. What sort of adventures will you be getting into this weekend? Whether Irish, or just Irish at heart, I wish you lots of fun! Now what sort of friend would I be if I didn’t leave you with a little outfit inspiration for this lovely weekend? Here are some fun bits and pieces to help you pull together your own glittery weekend look!
Personal Shopper: Fall Nail Polish
It’s time for another Personal Shopper segment! My friend Sonja is looking for the perfect fall nail polish, but of course wants to stay on trend and is wondering what are the hottest shades of the season. This is somewhat of a confusing season, as she pointed out, there seem to be a smattering of neon brights all over the place but as one would imagine, that does not necessarily invoke thoughts of crisp fall leaves and apple pie. The neon trend really boomed on the streets of NY Fashion Week and the neon look is still in, with the slight adjustment of using those neon colors in creative ways to make crazy DIY designs and patterns on your nails. Like this one…
However, the true staples of fall are still here, and I will always love and appreciate a sassy dark nail color during this season. It’s rich and it’s classic, just make sure to keep up with your manicure…nothing is worse than chipping dark nails! So here are some of the colors that are really standing out…
My new absolute favorite is OPI’s Lincoln Park at Midnight. Not to be confused with my favorite from last year, Lincoln Park After Dark. At Midnight is a shinier, richer purple hue, and I cannot get enough. {I’m wearing it right now!}
I’m all about a good drugstore find and nothing beat’s Revlon’s Vixen. It’s an extremely deep wine color that almost crosses over into the brown family. So classic fall.
If you start to tire of the reds and deep purples of the season, don’t forget about the stunning deep blue family! Try MAC’s Rain of Flowers.
Greens are huge this season. Everything from something shimmery, to a rich evergreen. This one is Rimmel London’s Rags to Riches.
I know for myself, it’s a bit hard to put away my hot pinks for a season, but with these fabulous colors. It’s not too hard anymore!
Firework Nails
It’s almost the 3 day weekend! I could not be more excited, or feel like I needed it more. I’ve always loved the 4th of July, and as with any other holiday, I like to be a little festive. What easier way to top off a patriotic 4th of July outfit than with some fabulous nails? The new trend right now is adding a splash of glitter to the tips of both your ring fingers. The glitter can be in either similar, or contrasting colors. I decided to go with a shiny red, and pair it with some blue sparkles. On the lines of a little firework! Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
Paint on two coats of the red {or your choice of color} and let dry completely. Take the clear nail polish and brush a layer onto just the tip of your ring finger’s nail. Quickly, before it dries, dip the q-tip into the bottle of glitter and shake shake shake that sparkle onto the tip of the nail. Put as little or as much as your little heart desires. I like a lot, cause well, it’s GLITTER! Let it set for a while and then apply a thin top coat of the clear to seal it in. Voila!
Perry Pretty Nails
I love painting my nails. {see here} Rarely am I seen without some sort of polish on them. I have a deep appreciation for all colors; the classic pinks, the mysterious deep hues, and even the more nude colors that say ‘I just needed a little cover up’. However, most of the time I like to go against the grain and just paint them a crazy color for no other reason than it makes me happy to look at them. Enter, Katy Perry’s new line for OPI. Each color while wild, crazy, and all too perfect on their own, can be taken a step further. Purchase the black “shatter” color and swipe one coat atop any of the vibrant hues and it instantly ‘cracks’ and you see snippets of your underneath color. Can we say genius?!
Here’s my favorite, “Last Friday Night“…
Here is what each color will look like when “shattered”. This can also be used on polish you already own! I will be running, not walking, to scoop up these colors!
