Girlie Girl with an Edge

I am the quintessential girlie girl. All things pink and glittery 99.9% of the time. With that said, there is always an off-chance that I just want to go in a little different direction. There is something so chic about a tough shoe. Enter this fabulous little number from ShoeMint (the monthly shoe club from Rachel Bilson), the Sidney Moto Boot. Sure it might look like you are ready to jump on a Harley, but I love it for the juxtaposition qualities it holds. Pair with skinny jeans and a sweet pink top, or even a fun maxi skirt and denim jacket….the options are endless to keep you looking girlie, but without venturing too into My Little Pony land. {which I still love}

Find that Look: Rachel Bilson

We have officially entered the awkward time of year where you want so desperately to wear light, airy, bright articles of clothing…but sadly it’s still just a bit freezing outside! It’s a tough act to balance, indeed. Which can just be added to the growing list of why Rachel Bilson is one of my top fashion icons. She totally gets it! This outfit she put together is unbelievably gorgeous and is both spring-y, yet chilly weather ready.

You can snag Rachel’s exact dress from TopShop! So perfect for spring and summer.

I love the structure of this peplum blazer from Forever 21.

The perfect way to cap off this adorable outfit? A stellar shoe! Rachel’s pair is from her collection with ShoeMint. DSW carries an almost identical shoe by Steve Madden {a co-designer w/ ShoeMint} for a fraction of the price!

Happy Shopping!

To Spend or Not to Spend: Rugged Ankle Boots

One of my favorite things this season is the endless juxtaposition found in so many outfits. You saw this during the various fashion weeks in the “street shots” of girls smartly pairing their sweet frilly dresses with some seriously hard-core shoes. Example…my personal style heroine, Rachel Bilson:

Shoes like these are so multi-purpose. Pair with a sweet and sassy dress like Rachel, or go the everyday route and match them with skinny jeans, a loose t, an awesome jacket, and a scarf. Hello fall perfection! So, where does one find these boots? I came across an absolute to die for pair from Boutique 9.

These are just over $200, and while I am a firm believer in making your shoes your investment pieces, we all don’t have that kind of cash just lying around. Enter, the ever faithful Payless shoe source. I think this pair is pretty to die for as well. Think floral skirt, OR skinny jean. All that’s missing are some crisp fall leaves crunching beneath your new fabulous heels.

Red Carpet Favorites: Teen Choice Awards

I remember when my world revolved around award shows like the Teen Choice Awards. Mostly because of my slight obsession with *NSYNC and any other poppy pre-teen ensemble that was huge during the late 90′s. So a part of me still loves to keep up with these things for nostalgia sake, and another part of me just honestly loves any sort of red carpet! Last night’s event was filled with many fashionable stars. Here are the ones that ranked at the top of my list!

I am in love with Blake Lively’s pairing of the super summery orange dress with funky leopard heels:

Rachel Bilson can do no wrong in my fashion book. I am loving the collar on this frilly white dress and I am beyond in love with the studded nude booties. The mixture of girlie and hard-core is done to perfection:

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez must have called each other the night before this big event. I love the out of the box addition of the extra long train coming out from the shorter skirt.

I’m normally not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but her take on the Marilyn Monroe dress is just perfect:

Emma Stone’s dress was completely different from anything else you saw, and for that I love her! The sleeves, the embellishments, and the marriage of the unexpected colors….I am a total fan.

A Blaze of Tangerine

Nothing excites me more than the up and coming color wheel of these warmer seasons. Everything is bright! Bright! Bright! Including today’s tangerine colored blazers. They are popping up on celeb fashionistas everywhere. The best part about these? You’d think you would be limited to a solid neutral color when it comes to pairing this jacket. Not the case! I think this little add on looks the best when paired with other bright colors.

{Take note from the ever stylish Camilla Belle}

{Another super trendy color pairing from fellow fashion blogger, Dulce Candy}

Rachel Bilson pairs hers with a more neutral look. Still utterly gorgeous!

Looking for your own blaze of color, but want to skip the Gucci price tag? Zara has a very pretty option at a great price point. {I would just skip the tee and Converse and go with all neutral or a whole happy family of color!}

Fashion in the Kitchen

Since Josh and I got engaged, I’ve been searching for the perfect set of dishes. We didn’t even register for ones cause I never saw any I liked! I’m also just not a fan of fancy ‘china’ so I’ve really struggled with finding trendy, nice dishware.

Well it’s too bad that this line wasn’t out two years ago…. One of my favorite style icons, Rachel Bilson…

…has put her design savvy and trendy spirit to the artistry of fine tableware! Alongside her fabulous fashion column for InStyle magazine, she has now joined forces with Edie Rose to create what will be the cutest addition to your kitchen. Everything from serving pieces to adorable dishes…this set is making me so happy! There are pieces focusing on a few different themes: roses, birds, and my absolute favorite…peacocks! Here are my favorite nuggets from the collection:

Peacock salad plate:

Peacock feather 4 piece place setting:

Peacock teapot:

Rose measuring cups:

Peacock lidded box:

And best of all…it is on sale right now at Macy’s! I think it’s time to save up and jazz up our kitchen! Three cheers that fun dishware has finally arrived!

No Safari Needed

I’m sort of on a cargo pant kick as of late. After finally sorting through my clothes the other day and discovering a pair, I had completely forgotten how incredibly comfortable they are. I also always pictured having to wear them with flats, or some other serious shoe. I saw this and just loved the look of the guy-ish pant w/ the super cute, stacky heel!

And it seems like this look is popping up everywhere, and I like it!
{Vanessa Hudgens}
{Victoria Beckham}
{And one of my fashion icons, Rachel Bilson}
Usually the normal person can’t afford most magazine clothes, but upon seeking out a pair I recently found in a magazine, much to my surprise they were from Old Navy and well within my budget! After regretting my decision to wear open toe heels and therefore freezing all day, I decided to instead pair them with some ankle boots before heading back out.

Three cheers for my new fall staple!
