Red Carpet Favorites: Teen Choice Awards

I remember when my world revolved around award shows like the Teen Choice Awards. Mostly because of my slight obsession with *NSYNC and any other poppy pre-teen ensemble that was huge during the late 90′s. So a part of me still loves to keep up with these things for nostalgia sake, and another part of me just honestly loves any sort of red carpet! Last night’s event was filled with many fashionable stars. Here are the ones that ranked at the top of my list!

I am in love with Blake Lively’s pairing of the super summery orange dress with funky leopard heels:

Rachel Bilson can do no wrong in my fashion book. I am loving the collar on this frilly white dress and I am beyond in love with the studded nude booties. The mixture of girlie and hard-core is done to perfection:

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez must have called each other the night before this big event. I love the out of the box addition of the extra long train coming out from the shorter skirt.

I’m normally not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but her take on the Marilyn Monroe dress is just perfect:

Emma Stone’s dress was completely different from anything else you saw, and for that I love her! The sleeves, the embellishments, and the marriage of the unexpected colors….I am a total fan.

Tresses of a Feather

I am all about the latest trend. However, sometimes I need a little extra push. As with today’s topic: feather hair extensions. This is not really a new trend; my first experience with these little hair accessories was when I saw them on none other than Ke$ha. And for those of you who may be wondering, no I did not just make a typo and yes indeed her name is spelled with a dollar sign. Take a deep breath English majors, we’re gonna make it through this. Like I was saying, the first time I stumbled upon these, I did not exactly feel like I had seen it on a reliable source…reliable enough to re-create for myself that is.

Like I said, this is not really a new trend, but I have seen it popping up in a lot more places, and I’ve gotta say, I’m liking it! You can go very neutral and pick ones in similar shades to your hair color, or you can go all out with funky colors and patterns. I personally like the latter! I also find it super awesome that you can style these…curl them, twist them into a fun up do, whatever you can dream up. I found some affordable ones on Amazon.com or you can go to a salon. If you need a little further coaxing, here are some other pictures of people rocking the feather hair extensions in the right way, minus dollar signs in their names. Love, Kri$ti.

Styles of the MTV Movie Awards

Admittedly…. I did not watch the MTV Movie Awards. There’s really not much you can’t just catch at the water cooler, or People.com the next day. And, you just saved yourself roughly 7 1/2 hours. I do however love love love the young fresh fashions that are born on this particular red carpet. New trends to try, and so little time! {and oh yeah, and so little of this: $} Here are my favorites…

I adore Blake’s use of color in this ensemble by Michael Kors:

Emma Watson looks so sassy and elegant in Marchesa:

Reese is totally rocking Zac Posen:

Maybe it’s the Disney girl in me but i l-o-v-e Selena Gomez’s Giambattista Valli outfit. So summery and oh so adorable!

Brooklyn Decker totally played the part in this gold No. 21 mini dress

Forever a fan of the onesie, I think Jessica Szohr looked precious in Alice + Oilivia

My Favorite Boots

I’ve talked before about how I love to copy celebrities when it comes to fashion. What do I love more? Finding celebrities wearing pieces that I ALREADY have! It’s like some sort of little victory. It’s like taking a test, holding your breath, and then discovering you’ve gotten all the answers right. Ok, you get the picture.

A few months ago, I purchased these boots from Target:

While watching the Bachelor one evening, during the hometown date of the supermassive fashionista, Emily Maynard, lo and behold she appears in my boots!

I was like, “aren’t those my Target boots?!”. Surely the girl who just last week sported fabulous Louboutins doesn’t shop in the same shoe section as moi. Then it happened again:

This time paying a little more attention, and pausing the television a time or two, I discovered that they most certainly were my Target boots. Score!

Then it happened AGAIN just yesterday. I’m in love with Twitter and not ashamed to say that I follow a schmorgasboard of Disney stars. One of which is Selena Gomez and I bet you can’t guess what boots she sent a “twitpic” of?

There they are again! Let’s keep our eyes on that Target shoe department… and stay ahead of even the celebrities!

Red Carpet Favorites: The Grammys

Ok. Wow. So the Grammys definitely invoke a totally different vibe than any other award show. Shock value seems to be more the goal vs. glamour. Being a lover of all things fashion, I still appreciate this, but I have to be honest, it took a lot of weeding through some nutty stuff to get to these fav’s. Don’t worry, there will be a post later this week highlighting the crazy. It was too crazy to not be talked about. Like I said, I totally ‘appreciate’ said outfits, I just can’t exactly put my ‘fav’ stamp on them. So let’s get to the sweet stuff!

I’ve been a Julianne Hough fan from the beginning of Dancing with the Stars, and I love how she’s embracing this new fun pattern trend in this Malandrino gown.

Best complete look, needs to go to Diana Agron. I loved everything about this. The hair, the makeup, the Vivienne Westwood dress {that woman knows how to create a killer bodice}, and the classic shoe. Total win. Totally jealous.

A surprise for me last night, was that I really like Kelly Osbourne’s Tadashi Shoji gown. So happy to see a fun color with awesome texture on the red carpet.

Selena Gomez looked super dressy and grown up in this J. Mendel gown. Again, another outfit where I loved the entire ensemble. Hair, jewels, dress, and that lipstick sure looks familiar!

Naya Rivera killed it in this super cool multi dimensional silver gown. Again, I love the hint of a pattern, and uber cool bustle.

Miranda Lambert totally scored one for the country team in this super creative one shoulder Edition by George Chakra collection gown.

Eva Longoria is always so creative in her fashion choices, a night at the Grammys was no different. I love this short and sassy Ashi Studio dress.

And once again, Lea Michelle is yet another one of my favorites on the red carpet. Emilio Pucci high slit dress, colorful jewels, and bright makeup.  A great twist on the classic black gown.

Red Carpet Favorites

We are officially in awards season! This means 5 hour blocks of time where your favorite tv shows will not be airing, {nobody likes that part} however….it also means fabulous red carpet fashion! The People’s Choice aired Wednesday night and it is just the tip of the ice berg of trends. Colors, styles, makeup, even hair…so many ideas are started on this crimson carpet. Let me take you on a tour of the leading ladies I thought stole the show!

Katy Perry commands center stage in this Barbie-esque Betsy Johnson number and Casadei pink platform heels.

Nobody rocks a pant suite like Jennifer Anniston when she teams up with Dolce and Gabana.

Makeup, hair, the gown {Farah Angsana}…Ashley Tisdale got everything right.

{Her  dress reminds me of this dress from one of my favorite Golden Globe moments in 2003 by Kate Hudson wearing Valentino}

Kate Walsh always has fun with color and does it so well. I love the blue on this satin David Meiser mini dress.

I’m a huge fan of a one shoulder dress…add fabulous ruffle detailing, a sweet muted color and I’m sold! Selena Gomez is pink perfection in this Paule Ka dress.
