The Many Faces of Anne

Yesterday I covered the fashion of the Academy Awards…too many things happened Sunday for just one post. Anne Hathaway hosted in an array of outfits that cannot go unmentioned. When I say they cannot all go unmentioned, that doesn’t always mean in a good way. Some where undoubtedly fantastic, while others left me wondering if her stylist, Rachel Zoe, had slipped out for a latte and Anne had to pick a couple out on her own. Either way, it’s all fashion, and good or bad…it’s always fun!

You were expecting my first pick to be a ball gown, right? Well guess again! Surprisingly I fell in love with both the musical number of this segment of the show, and the quirky Lanvin outfit; lady like fit, and fabulous Brian Atwood custom made sparkle heels.

She opened the show in this fabulously constructed Givenchy gown. I loved the hardware on the bodice and the separate pieces flowing around the skirt were incredible.

While the ending of the show was probably my favorite to date. All the award winners singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow with a children’s choir? Pure magic. However, the Tom Ford dress did not convey the same magic. I was hoping for something a little more ethereal, but you gotta give props for bravery!

I adore this Valentino gown. Incredible detailing and oh that train! Love everything about it. The end.

I thought this Armani Prive dress was a little bit curious. I found myself really wanting to like it…I love the color, I love the neckline…but I just don’t know what to think of the material. I sort of thought it looked a little like plastic with folds in all the wrong places.

I wasn’t sure about this Oscar de la Renta dress while watching it on t.v., until she did this little swishy move and all the tassels shook this way and that. You gotta love a dress with a personality. It still wasn’t my favorite; I wasn’t a fan of the fit of the dress and I personally would have worn my hair up to show more of the one shoulder detailing.

While this Vivienne Westwood gown is artfully designed and fits lovely, I almost forgot about this outfit change due to how much it blends into the background of the set. Speaking as a former theater student, knowing your set colors is a must!

Red Carpet Favorites

We are officially in awards season! This means 5 hour blocks of time where your favorite tv shows will not be airing, {nobody likes that part} however….it also means fabulous red carpet fashion! The People’s Choice aired Wednesday night and it is just the tip of the ice berg of trends. Colors, styles, makeup, even hair…so many ideas are started on this crimson carpet. Let me take you on a tour of the leading ladies I thought stole the show!

Katy Perry commands center stage in this Barbie-esque Betsy Johnson number and Casadei pink platform heels.

Nobody rocks a pant suite like Jennifer Anniston when she teams up with Dolce and Gabana.

Makeup, hair, the gown {Farah Angsana}…Ashley Tisdale got everything right.

{Her  dress reminds me of this dress from one of my favorite Golden Globe moments in 2003 by Kate Hudson wearing Valentino}

Kate Walsh always has fun with color and does it so well. I love the blue on this satin David Meiser mini dress.

I’m a huge fan of a one shoulder dress…add fabulous ruffle detailing, a sweet muted color and I’m sold! Selena Gomez is pink perfection in this Paule Ka dress.
